Except for Jersey City (which is very close to New York City and Newark) and Honolulu (where the orchestra went out of business in December 2010), all 125 cities have orchestras playing classical music. The Florida Orchestra plays in both Tampa and St. Petersburg; the Virginia Symphony Orchestra plays in both Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

This is not a complete list of American orchestras. For example, in the state of Iowa alone, there are also orchestras in Sioux City, Dubuque, Mt. Pleasant, Ames, Waterloo, and Fort Dodge, in addition to numerous community bands and college and university orchestras.
